Bridging Continents

It is truly fascinating how visionary people in such a difficult and agitated region can be. My first thought when reading about the possibility of a bridge between Djibouti and Yemen was dedicated to Mr. Silvio Berlusconi, who has spend considerable time of his ruling period dreaming about a bridge over Messina. As far as my knowledge goes, this project has since remained a dream. A bridge between Yemen and Djibouti, separated on their closest point only by 27 kilometers, seems to be another u topic project. Thinking in particular about the many "Wadis", empty river beds which can turn into bursting streams as soon as the rain comes, and which don't have bridges, I believe that instead of building the bridge between the continents, one could first invest in bridging the own country :) ...
